I never thought I would miss Houston weather. NEVER. But here I am, praying for some sun and HEAT! I love cold weather, but I’ve nearly reached my limit on how much I can handle! Those two weeks we had recently of nothing but sunshine every day were wonderful, but now we’re back to the cloudy and rainy typical English weather πŸ™‚

Last week was half-term for most of the schools that we work in, so we had a holiday club on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at St. James, which was just like a VBS. There was a good group of kids there and we all had a lot of fun singing songs, playing games, doing fun crafts, and learning Bible stories. I think the kids really enjoyed it and learned a lot, too, which is the most important thing πŸ™‚

This week we’re back to doing assemblies on the Ten Commandments, and this time we are combining two of them–don’t lie and don’t steal. We’re just covering the whole “dishonesty” lesson πŸ™‚
In the skit, we have our own version of “The X Factor!” (The British version of “American Idol”–although The X Factor was first.) Josh Edwards and Josh Jacobs are the judges, and Drew pays Josh Edwards money before we perform to ensure that he wins. He then proceeds to put on the worst act of juggling you could ever see! (Sorry Drew!) I then come out and play a number on my flute. Then we have round two–gymnastics!! Drew tries to do a cartwheel but doesn’t really succeed at it, and I do a perfect one πŸ™‚ And Josh Edwards goes on and on about how Drew was better and then informs us that Drew was the winner. It was really funny, and the kids laughed a lot, which is always a good sign! πŸ™‚

I’ve been praying a lot since I posted my last blog about where God wants me next year, and I’ve reached a decision–I am for sure going to be at the University of Arkansas in the fall. I feel like everything I was talking about in my last blog was just a test from God to see if I would be willing to give everything up for him. Tests like that aren’t fun, but I grew a lot and that’s what matters!

If all of you could be praying for our assemblies and lunch clubs/after school clubs and the youth club this week, that would be fantastic! We only have a few months left to make a lasting impression on these awesome kids and we want to give God the room to work in and through us in any way He chooses to. Also, I’ve been ill for the past week and would really, really like to get to feeling better soon because I’m tired of feeling lousy! Thank you for all of your prayers and support–it means the world to me! God bless!

  1. I look forward to hearing how God works in and uses you while you are at the University of Arkansas! Praying that all your funds come in for Ireland this summer!I love you!

  2. Wise choice “grasshopper”. I will be praying for sunshine, clear skies, and warm thoughts.

Be safe and keep looking up. U of A is fortunate to have you on the roster.

  3. WOW, Hilary! I am so proud of you! Glad you’ll be close to home, too! I am praying for you! Are you going to be in Ireland this summer???? Love you and see you soon!!!!!!

  4. Worst juggling act ever? I’ve spent hours getting to that high level of skill and professionalism. I’d ask for you to juggle in front of a school and tell me how well you do.

And either way, let’s not forget that I still won the X Factor.

  5. Glad you settled your plans for the next year about the University of Arkansas. Still seeking direction about this summer?

Glad you are enjoying working with the kids and they are enjoying the lessons too. Surely makes you look forward to each day. Hope you are feeling better very soon. Sunshine, as well as Son shine, does help!

    In His care,
    Ann

  6. I always feel good after reading your blog Hillary! Though sick, your not a debbie-downer.
But get some rest and get well πŸ™‚

  7. England weather is probably the most interesting weather probably anywhere. That is probably why everyone talks about the weather there so much. I miss the kids there.
