I absolutely
love this quote. Esther, an ordinary girl, submitted herself to the Lord and to his will for her life, even though she had no idea what could happen. She was called for such a high purpose, a purpose much higher than her own. The whole book of Esther is full of verses that really make you think. Liiiiike…
In Esther 1:6-7, it shows how wealthy King Xerxes was. “The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars. There were couches of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl and other costly stones. Wine was served in goblets of gold, each one different from the other, and the royal wine was abundant.”
I love this passage. King Xerxes was an infamous king who flaunted his wealth for nearly six months. Just think: if an
earthly king was this wealthy and lavished his wealth on people in this way, just imagine how cool it will be to see what kind of heavenly rewards that our
heavenly King will give us in heaven! That is something that is just unfathomable in my mind.
Haman, one of King Xerxes’s top advisors, was called to Xerxes because he wanted to honor Mordecai, except Haman thought that King Xerxes was going to honor
him. But instead, Mordecai (the man Haman was plotting to kill) was honored. I actually started laughing when I was reading this because, in my opinion, Haman got what he deserved. Lol! I just thought that was funny.
So anyway, those are some of my thoughts on the book of Esther…now I’ve gotta get some rest so I can hit the slopes tomorrow. Thank God for spring break!! 🙂
